Dear customers,

You may be aware that Honda has faced some challenges in 2011. With the devastating Tsunami in Japan and the flooding in Thailand, we are experiencing some shortage of supply.

As you browse our site, please be aware that some combinations of preferences (such as variant, transmission or colour) may be limited, or not currently in stock.

The best person to advise on the availability of your preferred Honda package is your local Honda dealer, so please make them your first port of call.

If you'd like to stay informed of Honda's stock situation, you can request a brochure or test drive, or sign up to our eNewsletter. That way we can let you know how things are going, and when we're back to full production.

Thank you for your understanding, and most of all, thank you for considering Honda!

Best Regards,

Stephen Collins

What if driving wasn't driving at all?

All that steering and indicating wasn't actually getting you from point A to point B but was instead getting you from point A to point Glee? The Honda Insight turns driving, and saving the planet, into a game with Eco Assist.

What is Eco Assist?

Who said games were just for kids? Now it's the driver's turn to have some fun. Take your driving to the next level with Honda's Eco Assist. Part system, part game, Eco Assist is designed to show you how fuel efficiently you're driving, while encouraging you to be good!

It's the dashboard that's your key to winning. You'll notice the digital speedometer change colours as you drive. Green means you're being good, and blue means you could be doing better. It gives you live feedback on how you're driving as you're driving.

And when you're done, Eco Assist will let you know how you're going with your overall, long-term, fuel-efficient driving, giving you an Eco score that hopefully you'll be proud of.

Everything you need, right before your eyes

The most important parts of the Eco Assist system are right in front of your eyes; there really was no better place to put them. There are a couple of things you will notice. First up, the colour of the digital speedometer changes as you drive. No, it's not letting you know its mood, but rather giving you feedback on how economically you're driving.

The scoring system

At the end of your trip, as you turn off the car, your Eco Assist scorecard will display. It's a running score represented graphically by flowering trees. Just like the speedometer colour gives you an instant indication of how you're driving, this tree system lets you know how you're going with your overall, long-term fuel-efficiency.

When it turns a nice shade of dark blue, it means your driving isn't so nice at all; you're consuming excess fuel with the way you're driving.

When it turns light blue, you're doing alright. Not great, just alright. You're consuming a relatively normal amount of fuel as you drive.

When the lights are green, keep doing what you're doing. You're driving with fuel efficiency in mind.

Using ECON Mode helps to keep you in the green by optimising certain settings, such as the air conditioning, for more economical driving.

Push the right buttons

Every good game needs an easy option. And for Honda's Eco Assist, that's ECON Mode. Pressing this button triggers a range of functions and allows for subtle changes that promote fuel economy. Don't worry it's not cheating.

The ECON Mode button:

  • engages the idle stop feature sooner
  • operates air conditioning more in recirculation mode
  • reduces climate control fan speed
  • optimises throttle angle input and Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) operation
  • limits power and torque by approx. 4%
  • manages cruise control operation.
